Aprovecho has had over 30 years of experience building different types of wood burning stoves and ovens.  Presently we are working in some 30 different countries in an effort to bring more fuel efficient and clean burning stoves to those who need them most.  While many believe the U.S. is beyond the need for low tech wood burning options, we think the time could not be better for taking your energy consumption and needs into your own hands.  In this workshop we will explore in depth efficient stove design as well as various natural building techniques.  We also will learn how to construct various stoves as well as complete a simple to build bread oven.

Each class will consist of a technical recap of the science behind stove design as well as a recap of the previous day’s work.   In this way while it will be ideal to participate in each class it will also be possible for those who cannot take an entire week off to participate.  That said if you have the option we enthusiastically suggest you participate in the entire workshop.

Contact: Mike Hatfield for questions or to enroll. (541) 942-8198 or email: apromike@gmail.com

The instructor: Mike Hatfield has spent the last 13 years designing and building improved wood burning stoves and ovens in some 20 different countries.  Having been trained initially in Philosophy he brings to the field of Appropriate technology the secure belief that the ability to meet our own technological needs is within each of our grasp.
